Highgate Cemetery

- Interpretation planning
- Stakeholder consultation
- Grade 1 listed landscape
- Successful NLHF funding bid

At Barker Langham, I led a multi-phase project to help Highgate Cemetery reimagine its on-site and online interpretation offer, and refresh its approach to community engagement.

Guided by extensive consultation, workshops, and walks with volunteers and near neighbours, our team created a comprehensive Interpretation Plan for the Cemetery with a new narrative framework to shape future developments.

We also wrote an Activity Plan designed to respond to local needs, with a particular focus on skills development and physical and mental wellbeing.

The plans we produced formed a central part of the Cemetery’s successful Development and Delivery stage bids for a total £6.7m of NLHF funding.
